Born 25 February, 1958 in Exminster,
Devon. Studied Politics at the University
of York. Worked in public relations and as
a freelance journalist, with regular
columns in British Journal of Photography
and Creative Review. Then taught on the BA
in PR at Leeds Metropolitan University
where I completed an MA in PR on the
subject of Barriers to Women in Public
Relations.
Two textbooks:
Effective Media Relations (co-author with
David Wragg and Michael Bland) Kogan Page,
1996, 3rd edition 2005
The Public Relations Handbook, Routledge
2001, 2nd edition 2004 (3rd edn to be
published January 2008)
Moved to Newton MA in December 2000.
Runner up in first Improper Bostonian
short story competition, 2001 with A
Family Christmas. First novel published,
No Rhyme nor Reason (iUniverse 2003). Won
first Sudden Fiction contest run by New
Voices, Cambridge, MA May 2004 with A Room
With A View.
Highly Commended, First 3 pages of a Novel
(Undertow) and Short Story (A Room With A
View) categories, Writers' Conference,
Winchester June 2004.
Won first prize in first Devon Life short
story competition December 2005 with Lost
and Found.
Undertow shortlisted in Cinnamon Press
Novel Award, March 2006.
Short story A Winter's Tale shortlisted in
Dark Tales Winter 06 competition,
published in Dark Tales 10.
First prize, Frome Literary Festival Short
Story Competition (Eating Cake) July 2006.
