Review,

Lechmar
'A
traditional farmhouse cookbook by
a twenty-first century farmer'.
This wonderful book is so much
more than just a cookbook. Its
title, A Taste of the
Country, is very apt
indeed. It draws you into the
world of country living and
country food effortlessly. I
found this book totally
enchanting, fascinating and
enjoyable. Even the photographs
are glorious and immerse you in
the good life. Take me there!
As a wannabe self-sufficientee, I
couldn't put this book down until
I had read it from cover to
cover. As well as being a
scrumptious cookbook, it is also
packed with information and
advice such as growing your own
food, cooking over a fire,
collecting wild food, cooking in
ashes, composting, and keeping
chickens. A Taste of the
Country will be a useful
resource for a long time to
come.
I've already tried out some of
the recipes - Suffolk Cakes,
Baked Oranges in Rum, and the
Muffins - absolutely delicious!
Tomorrow we're having Whole Roast
Chicken with Rosemary and Thyme
Butter - can't wait.
If you want a real taste of the
good life, then A Taste of
the Country is definitely
for you.
