Tony Thorne MBE author Tony Thorne MBE is an Englishman, born and technically educated in London, England, but now living alternatively in Austria and Spain. He originally qualified as a chartered design engineer and subsequently created a well-known British company where, for developments in the field of low temperature (cryo)surgery instrumentation the Queen awarded him an MBE. Later he emigrated to Switzerland and created the European Division of an American Corporation specialising in medical laboratory, and computer-related, products. After many later business adventures, he is now an author of quirky speculative fiction. Earlier in life too he wrote and occasionally sold science-fiction and humorous stories. He has also written papers for several technical publications, and has held patents, in such varied fields as nuclear protection equipment, very high temperature furnaces and microbiological analysis equipment. His published seven books (so far) include two collections of tall SF and Macabre tales.
